Seipati Motshwane was born in South Africa. She currently stays in Gauteng.
Seipati Motshwane is a veteran of screen acting, she first appeared on television in a guest starring role in 1996 the seSotho television drama Ga Bo Se Gangwe, on SABC2. She also guest starred on the drama Crossroads in that year.
Numerous guest starring roles ensued in productions including Orlando (1997), Soul Buddyz (2005), Egoli (2008), Intersexions (2010) and Scandal! (2011).
In 2013 she starred in the five-part Mzansi Magic miniseries Single Mothers, which follows a group of women brought together by accident and the mistakes of the men in their lives.
Later that year she guest starred in the second season of Mzansi Love, a romantic comedy anthology television series on e.tv. She also had a role as Maria in an episode of the e.tv anthology drama series eKasi: Our Stories entitled “Umendo” (Season 5, Episode 8).
In 2014 she guest starred in the SABC2 thriller series Thola, returning to play a different part in the second season, in 2016. She also guested in an episode of the SABC2 sitcom Skwizas.
In July 2014 she began a recurring role as Thabile – later known as Mama Mokoena – on the SABC3 soapie Isidingo.
In 2016 she guest starred in an episode of the Mzansi Magic drama series Rockville and the following year had a recurring role in the Mzansi Magic drama The Imposter, both of which were produced by Ferguson Films.
In 2018 she landed her third Ferguson films role, this time starring role as Sephiri guardian of Kweneng culture, who knows who the rightful heir to the throne is, but keeps tight-lipped for the security of the kingdom.
