How to change download location on Windows 7 & 10 (step-by-step)

If you would like to change your default download path either on Microsoft Windows 7 or 10, you have come to the right place. You can choose a location on your computer into which downloads should be saved by default, or pick a specific destination or folder for each download.

Step-by-step instructions for changing a download location on Windows

1. Open Windows Explorer

2. Create the folder you want to have as your new Downloads folder (i.e. C:\Downloads)

3. Under This PC, right-click Downloads

4. Click Properties

5. Select the Location Tab

6. Click Move

7. Select the folder you made in Step 2
