18 easy steps for applying to Wits University

Dreaming of studying at Wits University? Check out our step-by-step guide on applying for admission to Wits University. But don’t delay — the deadline is fast approaching.

Before you begin with your Wits University Online Application, make sure you note the following:

  • Applications Close: 30 June (Health Sciences, Architecture, Speech and Hearing Therapy) and 28th September (all other University programmes and residence applications)

Here’s are the easy step-by-step how to apply to study at Wits University:

Step 1: Create new application

  • Go to https://www.wits.ac.za/applications/ to create a new application
  • Fill your personal details such as your full names, surname, id numbers, etc…
  • Read and accept the Wits University’s Rules and Regulations and its ICT Acceptable Use Policy and agree to abide by them. by clicking the check box then click create new application button

Step 2: Validate your email address

  • Go to your email address and click the link to validate your email.
  • Enter your password and also confirm it (please note: write a password that your remember in future)
  • Then you will receive your unique number

  • Click check box to proceed with the application

Step 3: Continue with the application

After creating a password the system will log you in automatically, then click create new application button

Choose application type (e.g Undergraduate Full-time, Undergraduate Part-time and Postgraduate)

Undergraduate – Full-Time

You are an undergraduate if you have never studied towards a degree or diploma. You are also an undergraduate if you have a degree or a diploma but wish to study towards another degree or diploma or if you have an incomplete degree or diploma wishing to transfer.

Click on the Continue button

Step 4: Confirm your personal details

If your details have changed you need to submit certified proof of this change (e.g. Marriage certificate/ Home Affairs letter) to SEnC in order for the changes to be updated once the application has been submitted.

Click on the next button

Step 5: Enter your domicilium address

Please make sure that you capture your address details correctly as important correspondence is sent to these address. You must provide the University with your Domicilium Citandi Et Executandi (the address nominated by you where legal notices may be sent) during the time of your registration at the University.

Click on the next button

Step 6: Enter your Residential / Street Address Details

Please make sure that you capture your address details correctly as important correspondence is sent to these addresses.

Click on the next button

Step 7: Enter your Postal Address Details

Please make sure that you capture your address details correctly as important correspondence is sent to this address.

Click on the next button

Step 8: Enter your Contact Number Details

Please make sure that you capture your contact number details correctly.

Click on the next button

Step 9: Enter next of kin details

Click on the next button

Step 10: Enter General Background

Enter your general background details such as Population Group, Home Language and Religion Affiliation. Dont forget to click the check box if you have any disability or special needs.

Click on the Continue button

Step 11: Enter Citizenship details

Click yes if your South African citizen

Click on the next button

Step 12: Enter Previous Activities

Select main activity during past year an Sports involvement: In which sports have you participated (if any), and at what level

Click on the next button

Step 13: Enter Secondary Education

Select the secondary education schooling option

Click on the next button

Step 14: Enter South African Education

Complete this section with your South African Matric details, e.g. NSC, IEB.

Click on the Continue button

Step 15: Tertiary Education

Answer this simple question, were you previously or are currently enrolled at a tertiary institution, including Wits? Tick Yes if your were study at a tertiary institution or NO if your in matric or your highest qualification is matric.

 

Click on the Continue button

Step 16: General Information

In which year would you like to commence study? choose  the year which you would like to study at Wits, from the drop-down menu.

Please indicate your choice of study

Wits University gives you three options to choose the qualifications which you would like to study, Program 1 must be your first choice, Program 2 second choice and Program 3 the last choice.

 

Please note:

The 4 year LLB has been discontinued.
First year applicants apply for BA Law (ABA02) or BCom Law (CBA13).
Graduate applicants apply for LF012 or LF013. For detailed information click here.

Step 17: Indemnity & Undertaking

Tick the check box to accept the Indemnity and Click on the Continue button

Step 18: Review & Submit your application

Review you details and click Submit Application.
